All my paternal line are from Cornwall. My HOOPER family are from St.Austell, the hamlet of Carrancarrow, now sadly swallowed up by the china clay industry.
    Great-grandfather HOOPER married a YELLAND and most of her ancestors are from the parishes of St.Stephen-in-Brannel, Roche and St.Dennis. I am descended from the YELLAND family through 4 different lines.
    Grandfather HOOPER married a JEFFERY and most of her ancestors are from the parish of Linkinhorne.
    My Mother's family of GOODBURN originate from Shap in Westmorland.
    Great grand-father GOODBURN married a WILSON, whose parents were WILSON from Scotland and HALLAM from Yorkshire.
    Grandfather GOODBURN married a FRANCKLIN whose parents were FRANCKLIN from Kent and HYNE from Devon.
    My parents met in 1942 in St.Austell. Grandfather GOODBURN was a teacher at King's School, Canterbury, and the school was evacuated to St.Austell for the duration of the war.
    Strangely enough, both my parents have ancestors originating from South Brent in Devon! Father YELLAND and Mother HOSKING.
